id Software's described the huge expectation from its loyal following, telling Xbox World 360 magazine, 'we love our fans - but sometimes they drive us nuts'. Speaking in XBW's latest issue, creative director Tim Willits explained that even though id's latest shooter Rage offers driving, shooting and RPG elements, fans will still find holes to pick in it."The worst thing is that everyone wants the kitchen sink and everything else too," he said."For Rage, we're doing all these things and yet people are like 'Well I can't blow up these boxes', and I'm like 'Are you serious? We have driving, racing and all these cool characters!' 'But in this other game I can blow up boxes', and I'm like, 'This other game doesn't have any racing in it!'"It's crazy. Fans: I love them but sometimes they drive us nuts!"In the same interview Willits revealed that the long-in-development FPS is 'basically done'. Publisher Bethesda also released a fistful of screenshots yesterday.Rage is out on October 7.Buy Xbox World 360 online and have it delivered to your door. Andy Robinson

Sony under 'major pressure' to cut PS Vit
Sony Computer Entertainment is under "major pressure" to reduce the launch price of PlayStation Vita following a cost reduction announcement from Nintendo. That's according to Tokyo-based Ace Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda, who told Bloomberg the PlayStation firm risks "major failure" if it doesn't price its upcoming handheld - which is due out in Japan this year and in US and Europe in 2012 - competitively."Gamers are increasingly anticipating Sony to lower prices, especially after the 3DS cut," Yasuda told Bloomberg. "Sony is under major pressure to cut the price of the Vita or risk a major failure."When it does launch in the UK, Vita will set you back £229 for the Wi-Fi model and £279 for the 3G version.Sony chairman Kazuo Hirai signalled yesterday that the company won't engage in a price war with the Nintendo 3DS, which is set to have its RRP slashed by a third later this month. But not all Japanese analysts believe Sony should react to Nintendo's dramatic action. Nomura Holdings man Shiro Mikoshiba believes a higher price point for Vita fits with its target audience."The customers Sony is targeting with its Vita are those willing to spend a lot of money," he said. "That's a valid strategy even if the volume's low as long as it can sustain the higher price." Andy Robinson

Star Fox 64 3D trailer shows new weapons
Star Fox 64 3D's multiplayer mode looks to be where much of the new content will be for fans of the N64 original. It's got new levels and power-up, some of which you can see in the trailer below. New items including homing missiles, force fields and cloaking devices have been built into the game's local wireless multiplayer skirmishes, along with the questionable function of being able to see the person you're fighting on the screen in a slower frame rate and lower detail than their real-life selves sitting just a few feet from you. The game does, however, look absolutely fantastic on the 3DS screen, especially with all the new detail that's been pumped into the game's new textures. Star Fox 64 3DS will hit UK shores on September 9, and US on September 11. We will most certainly be doing a barrel roll all over this. Mike Jackson

Persona 4 fighting game gets first screen
We know it's called 'Persona 4 The Ultimate in Mayonaka', but that's a ridiculous name so let's all agree to just call this game 'Persona 4 fighting game' to save time and effort. Now that's out of the way, here are a few screens from the game to whet your appetite. Fans of the series will be happy to learn that it continues the story from Persona 4 by picking up a couple of months after the events of the PS2 title.Development duties are being handled by ARC Systemworks, which is pretty well versed in the art of developing fighting games having put out a fair few Guilty Gear and - more recently - BlazBlue titles.Characters from both Persona 3 and Persona 4 will be making an appearance. The screens show Yosuke, Chie, Teddie and a few of their Persona. The game is scheduled for release in Japanese arcades next year and an Xbox 360 and PS3 launch in pencilled in for summer 2012 in Japan.Atlus has confirmed Persona 2: Innocent Sin on PSP will be out in the States on September 20. Starcraft 2 Journey to Diamond League Wk8
By Mohammad Abubakr, OnRPG JournalistIf you missed any of the previous weeks in my journey to diamond league, check out the Starcraft II review section. (http://www.onrpg.com/MMO/Starcraft-II/reviews)Games played: 10 Initial Rank: Silver - 42 Final Rank: Silver - 38 Win/Loss: 5/5The first game in week eight of my journey to diamond league was against a Protoss. My opponent decided to open with the four gate pressure build. This is an all-in build as players continue to warp in units and do not focus on their economy. This means that if their opponent is able to hold the attacks without taking significant damage, they are in trouble. After getting cheesed and fending off all-ins all of last week, I continuously scouted my opponent. I did see four gates in his base very early on but no sign of units; there was only one zealot to block the ramp. I thought it was safe to continue droning and building up an economy but a large army took me by surprise. The Protoss race has the ability to warp in units anywhere there is a pylon. My opponent simply hid a pylon on the map and continued to warp in an army at a hidden location. Since I was unprepared and only had drones, I was unable to fend off the attack. I did not have a lot of experience against proxy pylons so I was not expecting this; I'll be sure to stop scouting only their bases and begin looking at the entire map.The following game I tried a hatch first build against a Protoss for the very first time. I was very lucky that he was located as far as possible from my base so I was safe from early aggression. The early expansion allowed me to enhance my income very early. As the game progressed I was too far ahead with my four bases against his two. I was able to reinforce my army a lot quicker than him which resulted in his base being overrun.Later that day I was put up against another Protoss. He played very passively and continued to increase his army size. He was most likely trying to max out his army and then finish the game. However, that is very hard to do on one base. He expanded very late and by that time my mutalisks were able to continuously poke his expansion, denying mining time. After realizing how far ahead I was, I simply morphed a large army and finished him.My game against a Zerg did not go so well. I did my typical 14 pool 14 gas opening and then transitioned into banelings after saturating my expansion. My opponent was commanding a roach army; banelings are not very good against roaches. I thought I would be fine since I moved over to produce mutalisks as they are good against roaches. However, I made a very big mistake to clump up my mutalisks. This was a very bad move because his army contained infestors.Infestors have an amazing spell called fungal growth which targets an area to snare and apply damage over time to units. Normally it takes multiple fungal growths to kill an entire army but I made a huge mistake. I clumped up my mutalisks so that one fungal growth would hit them all. After my mutalisks were dead, I was unable to fend off his roaches with just zerglings and banelings. I was forced to concede.Recently I have been facing a lot of opponents that decide to construct their second base not at their natural. This allows them to give the illusion of only having one base as opponents assume they have not expanded after checking their natural expansion. This strategy does not seem very viable to me as if your hidden expansion gets scouted, you will have a difficult time defending it.A Zerg player tried this strategy against me. At first I was unaware of his hidden expansion and though he was going to do a one base all-in. I continued to scout his base to allow myself to see when the attack was coming and to learn what tech paths he was taking. When I saw enemy mutalisks in my base coming from an odd direction, I knew something was up. Firstly, mutalisks are quite hard to support on only one base because they take a lot of vespene gas; each base only has two gas geysers. Secondly, the mutalisks approached from an odd angle. Finally, there was no spire in his main base. After I located his hidden expansion I was easily able to deny mining time by attacking both bases simultaneously. Since he did not have any creep connecting his bases as an attempt to keep it hidden, he was unable to defend. The final game we will talk about this week was against a Terran. The Terran player played very passively but continued to deny scouting information. I should have known something was up but I did not react. When cloaked banshees showed up at my base I had nothing to detect them with. I quickly setup some evolution chambers to get out some spore crawlers but too much damage was done. If I had remembered that I could morph overlords into overseers to get detection, I would easily have been able to hold with three queens. However, I completely forgot about overseers and was forced to concede.I achieved my goal of ranking higher than my initial rank. Hopefully this trend will continue and my rank will rise even higher next week.If there are any suggestions or feedback about this series, please let me know on the OnRPG forums (http://www.onrpg.com/boards/) @ Abubakr (http://www.onrpg.com/boards/member-abubakr.html). Alternatively you may message me in Starcraft II (Abubakr, 109).

Rumoured 360 bundle includes five pre-ins
It's reported that a new Xbox 360 bundle will soon hit shops in Canada with five full retail games pre-installed on the console's 250GB hard drive. According to a picture Tweeted from a game store employee, the bundle will pack a 250GB console with Alan Wake, Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars and Fable 3 all pre-installed on the hard drive. Buyers will apparently be warned on the box that these games will take up 29.51GB of space on the HDD, which isn't bad for five full-fat Xbox 360 releases (consider that Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3 reportedly fills up a 50GB Blu-ray disc). According to Joystiq the bundle will go on sale in Canada tomorrow for $299, which is a steal, but it's unclear if this awesome deal will ever make it outside of that region.Microsoft has said recently that it's still confident it can make Xbox 360 the number-one games console globally. Warhammer 40K Space Marine co-op DLC det
Relic has detailed co-op for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. As was explained in the initial announcement early last month, the co-op mode, called Exterminatus, won't be available until early October via DLC.When it does arrive, however, it'll come with two maps allowing four players to work together in a Horde-style game as they battle waves of increasingly difficult enemies. Two maps may not excite straight away, but it's free and who knows what will be added in the future.Playing with mates isn't all about flowery co-operation though. Watch a recent Space Marine multiplayer trailer to get an idea of how the killing will work. Tom Pakinkis

Free CryEngine 3 downloads soar past 100k
Wannabe developers (and probably a fair few random people just curious to see what a proper SDK looks like) have downloaded Crytek's CryEngine 3 SDK over 100,000 times within a week of it going free. That's according to the download count on the official Crytek page, which says the package has been grabbed 114,733 (thanks Gamasutra) at the time of writing.Crytek last week made the full version of CryEngine 3 free to anyone who cares to download it. CryEngine director of global business development, Carl Jones, said that he hopes offering the kit free will spawn new developers and spread the use of CryEngine 3."With the release of our SDK we encourage creators to try out CryENGINE 3 and hope it will lead to new companies being formed and using our engine," he said at the time of the announcement. "More importantly we expect to increase the talent pool for CryENGINE developers, as well as boosting our online community of users."Prospective developers can make a game for non-commercial purposes for free. If they should go on to sell a CryEngine 3-developed product Crytek asks for 20 percent of the revenues made. Mike Jackson

Epic 'No excuse' for missing LA Noire cr
LA Noire has attracted a great deal of positive coverage over the past few months, but a few stories may have detracted a little from the success of the excellent Rockstar thriller. Specifically, we're talking about allegations of poor working conditions at developer Team Bondi and reports that over 130 developers were cut from the game's credits.Analyst Michael Pachter had his say on the latter story earlier this week, suggesting the decision to cut the credits lay at publisher Rockstar's door and not that of Team Bondi. And now Epic president Mike Capps has given his two cents on the matter by slamming the decision, whoever made it.""I think credit is really important, and it's really f***ing cheap - pardon my French," he told IndustryGamers in no uncertain terms. It doesn't cost you a thing to have a guy in the credits who worked for you for three years and had to move to Seattle because his mom got sick six months before the product shipped. Or even just say, he worked hard on this game but didn't finish it."What we do [at Epic] is if someone's a programmer on a game but doesn't stay until the end - the end's the hard part - we'll just call them 'additional programming' as opposed to programmer," he added. "But we absolutely still credit them, because it's free to us and I want the guys here to know that if they ever left they would never be cut out of the credits. It's just common courtesy, really."
