GTA V Latest movement points to late 201

Rockstar and Take-Two are unlikely to release the still unannounced Grand Theft Auto V before holiday 2012 at the earliest. That's according to Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz, who came to the conclusion after the companies revealed a March 2012 launch for Max Payne 3 earlier today."With the announcement, we are increasingly convinced that we will not see the next Grand Theft Auto title until (at least) holiday 2012," he wrote in an investor note."We doubt that Rockstar would launch two of its titles in close proximity to each other given the studio's elaborate marketing campaigns and the likelihood that GTA could cannibalize sales from MP3 if launched in late spring."Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter said last month he expects GTA V "to sell at least 18 million units" and perhaps as many as 24 million. Starcraft 2 Journey to Diamond League Wk8

By Mohammad Abubakr, OnRPG JournalistIf you missed any of the previous weeks in my journey to diamond league, check out the Starcraft II review section. (http://www.onrpg.com/MMO/Starcraft-II/reviews)Games played: 10 Initial Rank: Silver - 42 Final Rank: Silver - 38 Win/Loss: 5/5The first game in week eight of my journey to diamond league was against a Protoss. My opponent decided to open with the four gate pressure build. This is an all-in build as players continue to warp in units and do not focus on their economy. This means that if their opponent is able to hold the attacks without taking significant damage, they are in trouble. After getting cheesed and fending off all-ins all of last week, I continuously scouted my opponent. I did see four gates in his base very early on but no sign of units; there was only one zealot to block the ramp. I thought it was safe to continue droning and building up an economy but a large army took me by surprise. The Protoss race has the ability to warp in units anywhere there is a pylon. My opponent simply hid a pylon on the map and continued to warp in an army at a hidden location. Since I was unprepared and only had drones, I was unable to fend off the attack. I did not have a lot of experience against proxy pylons so I was not expecting this; I'll be sure to stop scouting only their bases and begin looking at the entire map.The following game I tried a hatch first build against a Protoss for the very first time. I was very lucky that he was located as far as possible from my base so I was safe from early aggression. The early expansion allowed me to enhance my income very early. As the game progressed I was too far ahead with my four bases against his two. I was able to reinforce my army a lot quicker than him which resulted in his base being overrun.Later that day I was put up against another Protoss. He played very passively and continued to increase his army size. He was most likely trying to max out his army and then finish the game. However, that is very hard to do on one base. He expanded very late and by that time my mutalisks were able to continuously poke his expansion, denying mining time. After realizing how far ahead I was, I simply morphed a large army and finished him.My game against a Zerg did not go so well. I did my typical 14 pool 14 gas opening and then transitioned into banelings after saturating my expansion. My opponent was commanding a roach army; banelings are not very good against roaches. I thought I would be fine since I moved over to produce mutalisks as they are good against roaches. However, I made a very big mistake to clump up my mutalisks. This was a very bad move because his army contained infestors.Infestors have an amazing spell called fungal growth which targets an area to snare and apply damage over time to units. Normally it takes multiple fungal growths to kill an entire army but I made a huge mistake. I clumped up my mutalisks so that one fungal growth would hit them all. After my mutalisks were dead, I was unable to fend off his roaches with just zerglings and banelings. I was forced to concede.Recently I have been facing a lot of opponents that decide to construct their second base not at their natural. This allows them to give the illusion of only having one base as opponents assume they have not expanded after checking their natural expansion. This strategy does not seem very viable to me as if your hidden expansion gets scouted, you will have a difficult time defending it.A Zerg player tried this strategy against me. At first I was unaware of his hidden expansion and though he was going to do a one base all-in. I continued to scout his base to allow myself to see when the attack was coming and to learn what tech paths he was taking. When I saw enemy mutalisks in my base coming from an odd direction, I knew something was up. Firstly, mutalisks are quite hard to support on only one base because they take a lot of vespene gas; each base only has two gas geysers. Secondly, the mutalisks approached from an odd angle. Finally, there was no spire in his main base. After I located his hidden expansion I was easily able to deny mining time by attacking both bases simultaneously. Since he did not have any creep connecting his bases as an attempt to keep it hidden, he was unable to defend. The final game we will talk about this week was against a Terran. The Terran player played very passively but continued to deny scouting information. I should have known something was up but I did not react. When cloaked banshees showed up at my base I had nothing to detect them with. I quickly setup some evolution chambers to get out some spore crawlers but too much damage was done. If I had remembered that I could morph overlords into overseers to get detection, I would easily have been able to hold with three queens. However, I completely forgot about overseers and was forced to concede.I achieved my goal of ranking higher than my initial rank. Hopefully this trend will continue and my rank will rise even higher next week.If there are any suggestions or feedback about this series, please let me know on the OnRPG forums (http://www.onrpg.com/boards/) @ Abubakr (http://www.onrpg.com/boards/member-abubakr.html). Alternatively you may message me in Starcraft II (Abubakr, 109).

New Kinect bundle includes Child of Eden

Microsoft has revealed a new 'limited' Kinect bundle that includes Tetsuya Mizugchi's Child of Eden at no extra cost. The new bundle includes both Kinect Adventures and a code that will let you download a digital copy of Tetsuya Mizuguchi's wicked rhythm-action shooter - and spiritual sequel to Rez - for the same price as the regular bundle, which usually only comes with Kinect Adventures. This probably comes as part of Microsoft's plan to have Kinect dominate Christmas again this year. This new offer will start appearing in shops everywhere (except Japan) from next week with specially-labeled boxes (pictured), but MS says it'll only be made "in limited quantities and while supplies last". Which means you don't have time to dilly-dally. Get on it. Mike Jackson

PES 2012 trailer shows 'hold-up play'

Konami has released another new PES 2012 trailer, this time showing off the new 'hold-up play' mechanic. It's an evolution of the 'tracking play' feature introduced in last year's game, letting you easily hold-up an attacking player by backing your defender off towards his own goal while sticking tight to the opponent. We've also got 13 new screenshots of the sim showing off more tactical in-game play. Konami has confirmed an October 14 release date for UK and Europe on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. PSP, PS2 and Wii launch dates will be announced later in the year. Mike Jackson

Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar screenshots tr

Rising Star Games has released a new batch of screenshots from Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar. Our US readers might be thinking, "Why would they do that for a game released over a year ago?" If you're Japan that would be over two-and-a-half years ago. It's because the game's only just preparing for its UK release. Rising Star Games finally picked up UK publishing rights in March 2011 - more than two years after the game's Japanese debut. In the game, players raise animals, harvest crops, craft rare delicacies, and then sell their wares at their shop in an effort to revitalise a once thriving but now desolate town bazaar. It'll be out in UK, at long last, on September 30. The Myth of the WoW Killer

Now, AoC is still on its second expansion, Rise of the Godslayer, with most of the bugs from its launch fixed. However, AoC still fights against its bad reputation to prove to players that the game is worth trying a second time.。

 。

 。

 。

Of course I’m not disregarding titles that have been truly unique experiences (Champions Online for one) however they have yet to achieve the “legendary” status that WoW Killers seem to have.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

For me though, I say that this title is rubbish and a myth. And I’m saying it with conviction.。

As far as I am concerned, I stand by my call that the WoW killer would stay as myth unless I see games that can uproot what WoW has established. Only time will tell if that would ever come to pass.。

 。

 。

By: Vincent Haoson, OnRPG Journalist。

The WoW playerbase was immediately affected come AoC’s launch. However after a few months, players started returning to WoW after experiencing Hyboria for themselves, disappointed with what they have experienced. The majority of those returning complained of bugs. If Funcom would have given the game development a bit more time, history might have taken another path.。

 。

Before anyone would raise their arms in utter outrage on that statement (if I guess there would still be anyone who would care for that) I would say in my defense that I’m not a WoW fanboy. My WoW experience took only two or three months of my life. In that span of time most of it was spent as a Blood Elf Paladin (all types) and I stopped playing because (1) my budget can’t afford me to keep on playing (2) I really needed to get away from WoW before I got too addicted and stopped working all together.。

 。

People who have been immersed in the MMO scene for the past decade for sure wouldn’t find this “title” new. In the off chance that you are part of that rare group of people, I would say that you have been living under a rock that’s under another rock. In the past decade there have been MMO titles that have been called as such because people believed that these titles would finally steal the crown off WoW as one of the biggest game titles in the MMO industry.。

 。

I could list on and on what WAR did wrong, but in the end players decided to just cancel their subscription. The supposed WoW-killer with a killer budget failed to even put a dent on the WoW front, and now WAR is slowly losing its servers one by one.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Warhammer Online was considered as the biggest contender against WoW. I personally would have to agree that the game had a lot of potential. It allowed new players to get into PvP from level 1. It had a rich history based on the Warhammer franchise before it became an MMO, ensuring a huge following of promotional fanboys leading up to launch.。

However, try as developers might, WoW would not budge since up till now it  is still going strong. Sadly, as the years continue I can only say that the idea of an MMO being able to defeat WoW is more and more becoming a wishful dream—myth-like if you will, especially with the trend of MMOs these days.。

Developers have stopped trying to be different but instead went with the safe route of getting elements from what WoW has set and just merely adding a few tiny pinches of “creativity” into their games. Of course who could blame them? After seeing titles burn out after going against WoW developers would then prefer to just get some sort of return regardless if they are copying WoW or not.。

The lack of any attempts on developers to becoming bigger than WoW and just settling for something that can rake in some cash is one of the reasons why I think that the idea of a true WoW Killer is a myth.  Developers these days either would not take risks or are that just lazy and create game, after game, after game that would follow the WoW formula.。

 。

The current set of MMOs being released lately has started to incorporate elements of WoW into their games. May it be in the way of the job class, skill tree or even the interface, you constantly see MMOs trying to copy WoW elements rather than innovate away from them.。

Also if you are wondering why I only used these two as example when there are a lot of MMOs out there who may have been presented as a WoW killer one way or another, my reason is that AoC and WAR was heavily marketed as the WoW killer.。

 。

The lack of any attempt to be better than WoW really has strangled the growth of the MMO scene. In the east alone- WoW clone after WoW clone have been released and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon.。

There are still people out there who chronically title MMOs as the possible WoW killer that we’ve all been waiting for. As far as I recall, I only remember of two BIG titles (in terms of marketing) that has been crowned by the gaming public as the “chosen one”.。

 。

 。

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (back then) was one of the major MMO titles that would’ve given Blizzard a run for its money. The game presented a whole new gameplay aspect never tried in an MMORPG. The worlds were wonderfully made, and the women NPCs were downright beautiful. It was set as one of the highly anticipated titles to come out back then.。

Upon the game’s release, players flocked into the Warhammer servers hoping to enjoy what Mythic has promised. However, upon experiencing the game first-hand, players would slowly but surely leave the game for WoW again (or another MMO). WAR had failed to maintain proper class and population balancing which is integral in a PvP oriented MMO. The promised big battles in WAR failed to deliver when the server itself did not live up to the hype and crashed hard once 50-100 players flocked into the same battleground.。

To make things clear, WAR and AoC aren’t bad games. In fact, if they were better run by the companies who managed them, I bet WoW wouldn’t be comfortably sitting on its perch as the MMO who pwned them all.

Battlefield 3 Xbox 360 to come on 2 discs

The Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 will arrive on two discs when the game releases this October. That's according to an image of a promotional poster being carried by Japanese blog Esutero (via PlayStation Lifestyle), which also says the PS3 edition will ship on one Blu-ray disc. We've contacted EA for comment.Last year, Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi said that Capcom had to cut a significant amount of content from the Xbox 360 version of the game due to size issues with its DVD format.Microsoft has seemingly acknowledged what developers such as Castlevania: Lords of Shadow creator Mercury Steam have labelled an Xbox 360 "storage problem". In March, the platform holder reportedly began trialling a new disc format that will add an extra 1GB of storage to Xbox 360's ageing 7.95GB DVD format.Back in May, LA Noire shipped on three discs for Xbox 360.
